Project by : Rami Kopty & Joe Nashashibi

our aim in the project is to reach a coexistence in the area we examine wich it is at Nazareth metropolis (Israel) the area contain : The big city of Nazareth witch the citizens are Arab and a the city of Nazareth illt witch its majority are Jewish people and other cities and villages around , today these two neighbor cities are disconnected from each other and have no interaction between them .
after examining the whole area we found that the movement between the cities are much complicated and is not offering the people a dynamic transition from place to place witch cause to the old city of Nazareth to be much trafficked in the day and not allowing the people around to use it and to enjoy it properly .. so we found a way to connect the both cities by a Tram rail.. that connect both cities centers and all along this circle we added a building and landscape functions such as : park, gallery's, shopping centers, piazza, museum , hi-tec offices and a UNIVERSITY .
we decided to take the university as an example for the project and to develop it with its spaces and architectural values .

Progress, Methodologies and tools used for the Project*

in the project we examine the two cities typology's as you can see in this diagram and get a connection between them in many fields such as : the green typology , the openness of the materials ,activities in the areas ,the meeting scale, formality of a place and materials .. these diagram shows the deference and connection between Nazareth and Nazareth illit , this diagram helped us creating the university spaces by making a superposition of all layers on ... ( see the posters at www.coexistarch.info ) to get the whole picture ..

we get in our university a place that contain : a university and its labs and offices a shopping area that contain a tram stations cafes and restaurants and a public place for multi use that contain a community center and auditoriums that can be used for both the public and the university depends on their needs in such a time ... since our site is also an old Quarry we used the walls as interior of the complex and shown to all a new green mass in front that contain gardens and public spaces ...
